Xiaomi’s First In-House SoC ‘Surge S1’ With Mali-T860 GPU Announced

After a lot of leaks and rumors, Xiaomi has finally unveiled it’s first in-house SoC ‘Surge S1’. It is an Octa-core SoC with four high-performance ARM Cortex A53 clocked at 2.2GHz and four ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.4GHz.




Xiaomi also revealed that the Surge S1 is made using TSMC’s (It is the same company that produces chips for Apple) 28nm HPc process technology.

Xiaomi’s First In-House Processor

The processor its expected to have a quad-core ARM T860 GPU with 32-bit DSP for voice processing also supports VoLTE and more. Xiaomi has also revealed that it took only 28 months from planning to large scale production and as it earlier rumored, it is made by Xiaomi and Pinecone.

While comparing it to some of the most power-efficient and powerful budget chipsets like Snapdragon 625 and MediaTek Helio P10, Xiaomi said the chipset easily beats (the chipsets) in Geekbench 4.0, CPU multi-core benchmark and GFXBench Manhattan off-screen benchmark.
