Google PAX Program; A Cross-License Agreement

To stop the dispute between companies, Google has debuted a cross-line agreement that will have to be signed by all its Android partners. The initiative is called PAX (which is “peace” in Latin) and this is obviously created with the help of Android OEMs.

So, under the PAX agreement, companies will grant each other royalty-free patent licenses that cover both Android and Google Applications on eligible devices. Basically, under this agreement, any OEM can use any other OEMs patents for free under royalty-free patent license.

Lawsuits!

The companies that have signed the agreement will not have any lawsuit against each other when it comes to infringing patents regarding Android. These companies have signed the agreement; Google, Samsung, LG, Foxconn, HMD Global, HTC, Coolpad, BQ, and Allview.

All the above companies own a total of 230,000 patents worldwide. According to Google, the PAX initiative will likely reduce the chances of Android OEMs to sue each other in turn to grow with each other. What do you guys think?
