Google is reportedly rolling out RCS (Rich Communication Service) to its selected number of Google Messenger 2.0 users. This will basically add new features to the basic messaging app, such as user is currently not available for SMS messaging services and so on.
Reports say that RCS is not been enabled to every single Google Messenger user but to some selected users with selected carriers, such as Sprint customers who have Google Pixel XL or Nexus 6P. Even carriers have to support RCS on their network. Some carriers like Sprint and T-Mobile do but not Verizon. And in India, Telecom operators like Airtel, Vodafone, and Telenor has joined hands with Google to provide quality in SMS service.
Google is expected to be testing this feature with a limited number of Google Messenger users before it rolls out into the public(everyone). Google has been working on this from last year as it acquired messaging startup Jibe Mobile that works with RCS platform.
What do you guys think about this next level of SMS messaging service? Are you going to switch towards native messaging app with RCS? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
