This AR thingy started with iPhone X back in 2017 when Apple came out with so-called Animoji, a kind of animated emoji that responds to facial expressions via front camera. Since then, companies like Huawei (Qmoji), Samsung (AR Emoji) came out with their own version of this feature. Now, Xiaomi is in this with its Mi Moji app.

Xiaomi Mi Moji App
There are a lot of third-party apps that function like Animoji on the Play Store, but having one from Xiaomi would definitely be a huge plus. The Mi Moji app UX is pretty simple and you can animate up to 12 (as of now) 3D animated emojis in a recording of up to 10 seconds, which of course can be shared.
The recordings can also be edited for audio or you can set it to auto-edit to change to sound like a different gender. That’s pretty much it. Maybe Xiaomi will throw in new features as the current version is pretty barebones right now.

Mi Moji isn’t official yet but it might come to MIUI 10 in a future update. If you can’t wait that any long you can download the app (provided below). Be sure to toggle “install from unknown sources” to allow the APK to install on your smartphone.
