Baidu has unveiled its first Home Robots (two) and Smart Speaker today at the Baidu World conference in Beijing. The launched (three) new devices are powered by DuerOS and are a part of the new Raven series.

Baidu Raven Series
DuerOS runs on conversational AI technology, much similar to that of Amazon’s Alexa or Apple’s Siri. It can perform functions like searching the web, creating reminders, control smart home devices, or play music. Well, There have been a number of appliances which us DuerOS, but the Raven series are the first set of devices made by Baidu for serving its AI needs.
The smart speaker is designed by Raven Tech and Teenage Engineering. It comes with an LED display touch controller that can be detached from the base of the device and can be used within WiFi range for voice control. The smart speaker will go on sale starting next month for US$256 (roughly Rs 16,718 /EUR 217).

Baidu Home Robots
There are two Home Robots revealed today. First one is Raven R Home Robot, it is an arm which has the ability to swivel, move and can mimic expressions and emotions. While the second one is named Raven Q. The Raven Q includes DuerOS natural language processing and computer vision to construct a 3D model of its surroundings.
Speaking to VentureBeat, Cheng Lyu, Manager, Baidu’s Intelligent Hardware Unit said;
Each product in our new Raven series is integrated with Baidu’s latest AI technologies, including facial recognition, computer vision, and even our Apollo autonomous driving technology. These smart speakers and AI home robot may sound like a small step in the history of technology – but they will help people’s everyday lives and bring them an experience once only seen in sci-fi movies.
