Apple’s Siri-Powered HomePod Speakers To Take On Amazon, Google

Apple has unveiled Siri-powered speaker dubbed as HomePod at WWDC 2017. This is a highly anticipated device especially when it comes with a voice assistant. Google, Microsoft, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung is jumping into this to catch up with Amazon’s popular smart speakers, so, why not Apple?

Apple Unveils HomePod

It is 7-inch tall, which offers similar functions like playing music, checking news and controlling other connected devices in the home. In addition to that, the device has few added sensors which use spatial awareness to sense its location in the room and adjust the audio accordingly.

HomePod

HomePod comes with a large Apple designed woofer for deep and clean bass, a custom array of seven beam-forming tweeters, Siri Intelligence and wireless access to the entire Apple Music library. It also has six microphones for easier and efficient interactions. It can learn preferences and also handle advanced searches within the music library.

Apple said that all the instructions to the HomePod are recognized locally on the device and are encrypted. Powered by A8 chip, the HomePod comes in white and space gray and is priced at US$349 (roughly Rs 22,459). It will be available starting December, initially in Austrilia, UK and the US.
