Google Chrome To Mark all HTTP Sites As ‘Not Secure’ From July

Starting in July, Google Chrome will mark all HTTP sites as “not secure,” according to a blog post published today. Chrome currently displays a neutral information icon, will warn users from Chrome version 68.

Google Chrome Warns HTTP Sites

Google is already showing HTTP sites as insecure and HTTPS-encrypted sites with a green lock icon and “Secure” sign. Google said that over 68% of Chrome traffic on both Android and Windows, over 78% Chrome traffic on both Chrome OS and Mac uses HTTPS by default and are protected.

Moreover, 81 out of 100 top sites use HTTPS. Furthermore, Google said that Chrome is dedicated to making HTTP sites to HTTPS sites. Google has added mixed content audits that will help developers migrate their site to HTTPS, available in the latest Node CLI version of Lighthouse (an automated tool for improving web pages).
