Facebook has adopted this format a long time, allowing its desktop users to share both photos and videos captured in 360 degrees. Users can create panoramas on the go, which was previously created photos by dedicated 360 cameras, Google Street View.

Facebook is also promoting this function to page admins and publishers to engage the users, offering Photoshop templates and guides for easy creation of 360 photos. The social giant is making 360 photos as hassle-free as possible, making it a fun experience with guides and a little bit of help by the algorithm, which stitches everything up into a spherical image.

Users with the latest update will find a “360 Photo” button at the top of their news feed, which will lead you through the process of taking the required photos until they have complete panorama which can later be edited and shared with their friends and family.

360 photos are available for every profile and page, only profiles can set them as their cover photos, not as profile pictures (currently). As for taking 360-degree videos, users must have a dedicated piece of hardware that can capture the panoramic footage, which can be processed later.
