JioPhone Launched With 4G VoLTE; Here’s Everything You Should Know

JioPhone got announced today by Chairman and Managing Director of the Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani, at the company’s 40th AGM. He further said that the company is progressing faster and has crossed 125 million customers mark in just 10 months of launch, adding 7 customers every second on average and has more than 100 million paying Jio Prime customers.

The company’s first VoLTE feature phone that is ‘Made in India’ has a 2.4-inch QVGA screen, Alphanumeric keypad, 4-way Navigation key, microSD slot, rear camera, FM Radio and torch light (of course).

The JioPhone comes with 22 major Indian languages and has voice commands to call someone, reject a call, browse the internet, open apps and more. In addition to that, it comes pre-loaded with Jio Music, Jio Cinema, and Jio TV.

You can long press ‘5’ on the keypad to call the emergency number, which will also include your GPS location. It supports NFC, tap-and-pay payments through UPI, credit and debit cards, which will be enabled through software updates.

The JioPhone also comes with separate Dhan Dhana Dhan Rs 153 per month plan that offers unlimited voice and 4G data without any cap. The JioPhone is free, but there is a catch. The company is collecting Rs 1500 as a security deposit for the phone to avoid misuse, which will be refunded after 3 years.


Reliance Jio’s Other Added Plans

The company has introduced a new JioPhone TV pack for Rs 309 that lets you watch Jio TV on any TV, including your non-smart TVs. In addition to that, there are Rs 54 (a week) and Rs 24 (2 days sachet packs) for those who want to experiment before they go for monthly packs.

The shipping will begin in September on the first-come-first-serve basis. Reliance Jio is expected to roll out 5 million JioPhones a week.
