Here Is Why Qualcomm Wants Some iPhone & iPad Models To Be Banned

The chipset maker, Qualcomm wants US International Trade Commission to bar Apple from selling some iPhones and iPads in the United States that uses chips made by its rival Intel, which apparently draws infringement of six Qualcomm patents.

There are six patents (under Qualcomm) which help devices perform well without draining the battery and it seems Apple infringed the patent. Apple came out and referred reporters that Qualcomm is unfairly imposing “tax” on Apple devices running on Qualcomm chips.

apple qualcomm1Qualcomm’s legal battle with Apple is taking a questionable turn. The chipset maker asked the body to ban “iPhones that use cellular baseband processors other than those supplied by Qualcomm affiliates”.

Although Qualcomm did not blame Intel but alleges that the way Apple implements them in the iPhone does infringe the patent. Just for the perk, Intel began supplying chips for some iPhones starting with the iPhone 7.

Not to mention, Qualcomm is the major modem chip supplier to both Apple and Samsung, which is used to connect phones to wireless networks.
