No More Updates From Cyanogen, Services Shutting Down

Reports stated that Cyanogen Inc. will be shutting down its headquarters in Seattle and will cut off more employees.

Soon after the report, the company announced that it’s shutting down all the services. Addition to this, it also said that nightly builds will also be discontinued by the end of the month.

Cyanogen Updates?

Yes, if you are using Cyanogen-powered devices such as Yu Yureka, OnePlus One or Lenovo ZUK Z1, you will be not be getting future updates. Well, to prevent from a permanent breakdown, you can switch to CyanogenMod or any other ROM, if you want latest updates.

The company said that it has the plan to combine cyanogen’s sites into a single team in Palo Alto by the end of the year. Well, this seems too fast for a company to break down users trust (and their devices as well).

Cyanogen Inc. said:

As part of the ongoing consolidation of Cyanogen, all services and Cyanogen-supported nightly builds will be discontinued no later than 12/31/16. The open source project and source code will remain available for anyone who wants to build CyanogenMod personally.

So, now CyanogenMod will be the main source for the developments of latest Android builds.
