Reliance Jio ‘Happy New Offer’ Could Extend Beyond March 31, 2017

Just after the launch of Reliance Jio has got great support from people especially with the ‘Welcome Offer’ people were driven to Jio.

And looking at the popularity Mukesh Ambani (Chairman and CEO of Reliance Jio) announced the extension of freebies till March 31, 2017, with some minor changes and renamed the offer to ‘Happy New Year Offer’.

Now, Analyst believes that Jio’s free offers may extend beyond March 31, looking at the massive popularity and impact on major telecom operators like Airtel, Idea, and Vodafone.

Rajiv Sharma, the telecom analyst at brokerage HSBC, said in ET;

Jio may decide to extend freebies by a couple of months beyond March 2017 if incumbent telcos get more aggressive on 4G pricing.

Jio has hit hard on major telcos making their users shift to Reliance Jio and looking at the situation major telcos launched new cheaper plans which include free voice calls bundled with mobile data.

Reliance Jio Free Offers Impact!

Jio’s free offers had a great impact on their and other telecoms market. A report from TRAI claims that Jio added nearly 16 million users in September, which is huge compared to Airtel’s 2.4 million new users. Idea Cellular and Vodafone were able to garner nearly 1.91 million and 525,281 subscribers respectively.

The free offers also helped Reliance Jio to get nearly 60 million subscribers in less than three months, with 600,000 subscribers getting added every day (company’s claim).
