You Can Book Uber Cabs Without Using Its App Or Account: How?

Uber is making the process of booking a cab nimble for people in India. The grapple between the two companies i.e Ola and Uber is pushing the limits of our day to day transportation, making it more reliable for people to travel.

The online transportation giant announced that its “Dial an Uber” feature, which basically lets people book a cab without downloading the app, is now available across all 29 cities in India where it operates. This feature was long tested in India before the launch.

How Does It Work?

So to use this feature, the user has to visit dial.uber.com website on their phone. Again, no need to create an Uber account to book a cab, as this feature only require the phone number for authentication. The only drawback of this at least as of now is settling the payment in cash at the end of the trip.

Apurva Dalal, Head of Engineering, Uber India said;

Dial an Uber offers a convenient choice to customers looking to book a ride and is testament to our focus on using our technological edge to make mobility reliable and accessible for everyone.

Uber’s India rival app, Ola has also undergone some changes in its platform to increase the level of appeal among Indians. In October, the India’s largest cab service covering over 100 cities said that people can book a cab on Ola via text message (so, no internet issues). Ola named the service as “Ola Offline.

How Does Ola Offline Work?

So, when the user interacts with Ola through text message, Ola sends the details of the cabs available at nearby places and the users can select drivers and book a cab using SMS. After the booking, Ola sends the contact details of the user with GPS location to the cab driver. Which makes it easier to process.

Either way, both companies features are helpful for the needy. Though it won’t be relevant to many people but it’s certainly relevant to hundreds of million users.
