Mivi Roam 2: Design And Build

The Mivi Roam 2 looks pretty minimal with subtle elegant looks making it a premium end product. The aircraft-grade Aluminium grill of this speaker stands out in the odds. That said, the in-hand feel of this speaker is soft yet durable, thanks to the rubberized finish. The Bluetooth speaker is robust enough to tackle day-to-day abuse.

The Roam 3 comes in handy, however, on a bit heavier side, which of course justifies the battery life of this speaker. The Mivi Roam 2 comes with an attached lanyard which facilitates carrying it around. The company has added enough grip to get hold of this Bluetooth speaker, and more so, at the bottom, you will find four-rubberized dots to not only grip but also elevates the speaker from the ground.

On the design front, the mid-left of the front side of the speaker is the brand logo (Mivi), so at the back. On the right side, you will find a pre-attached lanyard and on the left, you will find a micro USB-port to charge, and an Aux port. At the top are the four control buttons, which we wish the button could have been more tactile, well the buttons are power on/off, Volume up/down, play/pause (also used to accept/reject calls).

Mivi Roam 2: Audio Quality

The Mivi Roam 2 comes with a 5W speaker, which makes up for a great sounding speaker with the punchy bass, in fact, the bass is the stand out point of this speaker. Not just that, the speaker produced balanced stereo sounds, and at highs, it didn’t distort much, as compared to others in the same price range.

Mivi Roam 2 can go loud, or I must say, loud enough for indoors, however, it doesn’t tall in front of BoAt Stone 650R. Also, you can also connect two Mivi Roam 2 speakers to get stereo sounds, we didn’t test as the brand sent us only one, but looking at the proper implementation of other claimed features, we expect the Stereo Mode to work well.

That said, compared to other Bluetooth speakers of this size, Roam 2 gives out a great sounding audio and props to the swift connect (Bluetooth v5.0), the overall experience with the speaker is exceptional and on top of that it has an IP67 Waterproof rating.

Mivi Roam 2: Battery

Mivi Roam 2 packs in a 2000mAh battery, which gave us 15 hours of continuous play, no matter what. The company claims to offer 24 hours (at mid-volume), which got delivered when we kept the volume at 60%.

The charging time of the Roam 2 (as claimed) was 4 hours, and we got around the same. The overall picture of Mivi Roam 2 in terms of battery backup and charging time is pretty decent concerning the price point.

Verdict

Mivi Roam 2 is priced at Rs. 1,139 (on Amazon.in and at mivi.in, at the time of writing), which to some extent, justify its elegant yet strong form-factor with 5W power output speakers giving out a powerful audio-output.

However, the price of this speaker brings in great completion, and some are better than this like for example, BoAt Stone 650R, which we reviewed a while ago, has better sounding speakers; check out the review to know more or check Stuffcool Theo.
