boAt Stone 650R Bluetooth Speaker: Build
Right out of the box, the boAt Stone 650R looks aesthetically appealing and designed like a tank. It has a cuboid shape with diamond-shaped protrusions on the speaker grill and rubber coverings on both ends complimenting each other. The diamond-shaped design makes the speaker look attractive with a subtle touch of premium feel to the product.
At the center is the boAt logo, at the right, are the operating buttons which include power on/off, play/pause, next/previous, and volume control buttons. At the right side-edge (back), you will find slots for micro-USB, aux, and microSD cards, which is a nice addition to anyone who likes to listen to downloaded music.
Moreover, you will find a small notification LED and a mic on the right-side edge (front). Nothing on the left and at the bottom, the speaker a port to screw in a tripod or any mount. Apart from this bottom slot, we didn’t find any place to hook a strap or band on the speakers. Overall, the company is offering you with undistinguished options.
The ends of the speaker have a silicone covering, which makes it resistant to damage in case of accidental drops. The speaker is on the heavier side coming at 600g, which is attributed mainly to the dual drivers and bigger battery.
Other than that, the speaker is IPX5 water, and dust resistance, which means it can take water splashes making it durable for outdoor activities. Although IPX5 is good enough, you might find some brands offer IPX7 rating at this price range.
boAt Stone 650R Bluetooth Speaker: Audio Quality
The boAt Stone 650R comes with a 5W dual-driver stereo setup, expect an immersive experience with 10W power output. There’s an additional passive bass radiator on the back of the speakers, which acts as a subwoofer and amplifies the bass for bass-heavy music, enriching immersive experience.
Not just the bass, but the boAt 650R speaker is impartially loud with pretty decent vocals. However, the audio quality on high volume isn’t prominent as it is on lower levels, quite a bummer, but not a deal-breaker.

Compared to other Bluetooth speakers available at the same price tag, the sound output of boAt Stone 650R is quite loud, props to 10W speaker. Overall, the audio performance admirable and we recommend this speaker for EDM and punch bass kinds of music.
boAt Stone 650R Bluetooth Speaker: Connectivity
The connectivity on the 650R was excellent. It comes packed with Bluetooth v4.2, and it got connected to our smartphone in a fraction of seconds. The valid range is 10m. However, we tried extending the field and the Bluetooth stopped working at around 12m viz very average.
We would have appreciated if the company had gone with Bluetooth v5.0 for much faster connectivity and better range. Speaking of aux port connectivity, it was good. However, the Bluetooth automatically turns on when the device is on (sucking up the battery juice) and indicates a white notification LED.

boAt Stone 650 packs in a 1800mAh battery. The 650R gave us 5.5 hours of continuous play. The company professes to offer 7 hours, and we got it delivered at playing songs at 70% volume. Attribute the missing to the powerful 10W drivers giving out strong audio performance.
The only thing that bothered us the most was the charging time. It took around 3 hours to charge completely. If we look for the overall picture, the battery backup and charging time are decent at the price point.

Verdict
boAt Stone 650R comes with a robust form-factor, and a 10W dual drivers, giving out punchy bass. Durability is not at all a question, especially when 650R comes with IPX5 water-resistance and silicone cover protection on both ends.
This speaker has everything from a remarkable design to a powerful audio output. All apart, it is priced at Rs 1,999 (on Amazon.in, at the time of writing) makes it one of the best Bluetooth speakers available under Rs 2000 mark.
