Before we begin with the review, one thing I want to bring it to your notice that, apart from the performance, all the other aspects of the TUF Gaming FX705DT is same.
ASUS TUF Gaming FX705DT: Design
At the first glimpse, the TUF Gaming FX705DT’ all-black design, with the plastic faux-aluminum blushing looks great. However, not as good as the black and red combo (another variant of the very same).
Much like the one we reviewed, it also comes with military-grade MIL-STD-810, which means, the laptop can survive adverse conditions including extremes of solar radiation and thermal shock, but if not any of these, it can withstand day to day usage and some minor accidental falls with ease.
Being a 17-inch laptop, we were expecting it to be slightly heavy but for our surprise, it was lightweight, when compared with other 17-inches and also with respect to its screen size and all the heavy performing internals.
The lid has a small cutout, so you can see the status lights even when the laptop is closed, which is a neat feature, but of Zephyrus line. Apart from that, overall the laptop has a great design and a gaming look to it.
“the brushed material and stealthy Asthetics makes the tuf gaming fx705 look excellent.”
PORTS
The right-hand side just has a Kensington lock slot, no other I/O ports. Coming to the left, there are 2 x USB 3.0, 1 x USB 2.0, an HDMI, Ethernet, power and a 3.5mm audio jack.
Although the ports are sufficient but placing at the right side makes it slightly tough for gamers or say right-hand gamers. However, it devoids any cooling outlets giving out better performance, but we wouldn’t have minded an SD card slot and a USB Type-C port.

ASUS TUF Gaming FX705DT: Display
The ASUS TUF Gaming FX705 comes with a 17.3-inch, 1080p display which produces a richer detailed picture, which is great for casual gamers, the slight disappointment here is that the sRGB accuracy on the display is quite mediocre.
Furthermore, the brightness of the laptop is also a tad bit low coming at just 248 nits. Regardless of that, the laptop did pretty decently in the bright indoor/outdoor conditions. No issues in this display section.
ASUS TUF Gaming FX705DT: Keyboard, TrackPad, Audio & Webcam
The keyboard on FX705 is fairly huge and gives out a sweet typing experience, with key travel of 1.7 millimeters. The keys are bouncy, but the full num-pad is not spaced well (which is understandable).
“The typing experience on the tuf gaming fx705DT’ bouncy keys is A great satisfaction.”
Apart from that, the keyboard is RGB-backlit and you can use the Aura Core software to adjust the colors and switch between basic effects, like breathing and strobing.
Coming to the trackpad, the 4.1 x 2.8-inch touchpad was pretty good, thanks to Microsoft’s Windows Precision Drivers, the accuracy and the gestures works really well. On the flip side, the touchpad felt cheap.
The speakers on the TUF Gaming FX705 is loud and clear with an ample amount of base and a sweet of mixture of vocals, which can also be boosted in the included DTS audio app.
Well, the 720p webcam on the FX504 isn’t great, especially with colors. Overall, a decent cam with overexposed and noisy (low-light) shots.

ASUS TUF Gaming FX705DT: Performance
The FX705DT comes with AMD Ryzen 7 3550H CPU, coupled with 8GB RAM (up to 32GB), paired with Radeon RX Vega 10 with 2GB of VRAM, won’t let you down in terms of performance and gaming (overall). The ASUS TUF FX705 uses a 512GB HDD PCIe NVMe which is just enough to the boot drive and perhaps a couple of other software.
The ASUS TUF Gaming FX705 scored 790 on Cinebench 15, which is pretty good, considering its a laptop for average gamers. Furthermore, the FX705 is a beast and can simultaneously run Premiere, After Effects, Lightroom and several other software without any issue.
“the Radeon RX 560X backed ASUS TUF Gaming FX705 packs in a great power.”
Coming to the gaming, which is the sole purpose of this laptop, it does great and pretty evident, it won’t tear through intensive games. The machine has rendered the games like the Rise of the Tomb Raider at 67fps (26fps at 1080p), Farcry at 61fps (26fps at 1080p), which is pretty high when considered other machines in the same price range.

The FX705 has managed to stay cooler under load, the dual fans on the under the TUF Gaming FX705 did a reasonable job keeping the laptop’s large chassis from overheating while gaming intense graphics games.
