After 32 years of manufacturing, BlackBerry is officially dead now.
BlackBerry’s CEO John Chen said “The company plans to end all internal hardware development and will outsource that function to partners” in a statement.
Well, there has been lot of improvements from the company which has started 3 decades ago. Since then there have been lot of model put out by BlackBerry, Some iconics are Bold, Curve, Torch and so on.
BlackBerry is not closing up totally, it is outsourcing the hardware business to partners, that also means that they won’t be produced in-house anymore. Company also clarified that, if any device build in future, it will be designed and built by other companies.Earlier this year, BlackBerry CEO cleared us with their plans of closing the hardware production by September if the upcoming devices aren’t successful. Though BlackBerry Priv made some market, DTEK50 couldn’t hold the market value as the Mobility Solutions division posted as loss of $8 million in the last quarter.
BlackBerry couldn’t take on iPhone and Android, even after adopting Android it couldn’t do well to impress the market. Well, BlackBerry will always be remembered as a revolution in Smartphone industry.
A company which has given us BlackBerry Messenger, Track Ball, Qwerty marked their end of hardware business. In 2013, once called mobile phone giant, Nokia also went out off business selling it to Microsoft. Though they are expected to comeback by the end of this year. But this is the end of a mobile phone era which has brought revolution in mobile phone market.
