Microsoft Officially Ends Support For Windows 10 Mobile, Asks Users To Switch To Android Or iOS

Microsoft has announced that it is going to end support for Windows 10 Mobile devices on December, which falls in line with company’s announcement in 2017 where it revealed that won’t be developing new features or hardware for Windows 10 Mobile.

Microsoft Ends Support For Windows 10 Mobile

The struggling Windows Mobile OS gets an end date, however, the company continued to offer security and software updates till December 10th, 2019 for the devices running Windows 10 Mobile. “Windows 10 Mobile, version 1709 (released October 2017) is the last release of Windows 10 Mobile and Microsoft will end support on December 10, 2019,” said the company.

Microsoft has started recommending the Windows 10 Mobile users move to iOS or Android devices. After Microsoft pulls support in December, device backups for settings and some apps will continue for three months until March 10th, 2020.

Microsoft previously ended Windows Phone 8.1 support on July 11th, 2017, so the end of Windows 10 Mobile support is not surprising. Microsoft is currently focusing its energy on building apps and services for iOS and Android.
