Lately, Google has been investing both time and resources on Fuchsia OS. The Fuchsia OS came into light almost two years ago when the company began quietly posting code to its GitHub repository. What’s more interesting is the fact that Google has released some early versions available for smartphones and PCs. Well, here’s why Fuchsia OS might be the successor to Android.

Fuchsia OS: What Is It?
Fuchsia is a capability-based operating system currently being developed by Google. It first became known to the public when the project appeared on GitHub in August 2016 without any official announcement. In contrast to prior Google-developed Operating systems such as Chrome OS and Android, which are based on Linux Kernels, Fuchsia is based on a new microkernel called “Zircon”.
Fuchsia OS is designed so as to reduce the dependence on hardware and enhance the compatibility so that the performance increases drastically. The UI offered in this new OS has a very minimal approach. The things that you do use your smartphone for are displayed in the form of cards.

Fuchsia OS Might Replace Android
According to a report on Bloomberg, Fuchsia might replace Android in the next five years. Sources at Google told the publication;
“Ultimately the team [Google’s Fuchsia team] aspires to swap in their system for Android, the software that powers more than three-quarters of the world’s smartphones, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing internal matters. The aim of this is to happen in the next half-decade, one person said.”
This new OS might help Google to solve all the major drawbacks of Android. Google can use Fuchsia OS as a more secure and faster and easily upgradable OS. Furthermore, Fuchsia OS will also offer a better cross-platform integration than the current Chrome OS/ Android divide. A few reports even suggest that Google will soon integrate the new OS with Google Home devices.
