Amazon To Offer A Free Ad-Supported Version Of Prime Video; Report

Amazon is reported to soon offer a free ad-supported version of its Prime Video. The rumors come in as Amazon has been engaging in talks with both movie studios and TV production companies over getting content for the service.

Free Ad-Supported Version Of Prime Video

The Prime service is a really a boon to the subscribers, as they get free shipping and access to a large library of video streaming content. Well, according to AdAge, the company is in the work of making the Prime Video free with an ad-supported barrier.

The free (ad-supported) version of the service will feature kids program/shows, lifestyle shows, and Amazon originals shows. In addition to this, Amazon is reportedly nurturing the idea of giving creators their own channels and “sharing ad revenue in exchange for a set number of hours of content each week”.

So, the question arises is, why would Amazon offer a free version of the service? Well, the answer is pretty simple, just to encourage new viewers to upgrade to a Prime account in order to access ad-free streams and other Prime benefits.
