Google Confirms Android O As Android 8.0, Releases Developer Preview 3

Google confirms Android O as Android 8.0. After the release of first Android O developer preview back in March, the second developer preview released last month at Google I/O and also opened registrations for Android O beta. Well, it has now released Android O developer preview 3 with final Android O APIs, which reveals Android O as Android 8.0.

Google Confirms Android O As Android 8.0

The latest developer preview brings color-coding for rich media notifications i.e theme based notifications and the thumbnail now fades into the notification. Initially, these are available for Google Play Music, Spotify, YouTube Red, YouTube Music and Chrome that lets you play music in the background.

In addition to that Android O brings several new features such as notification channels, PIP, adaptive icons along with new APIs like autofill, font resources in XML, Auto-sizing TextView, WebView enhancements and more.

You can download developer preview 3 images from Android developer website or OTA images. Speaking of OTA, it is available for Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Nexus Player. Google has promised to bring one more preview in July (which will close to the final release). We should know the name of Android O after final preview.
