Google Debuts Family Link, An Android App for control your kid’s device. In the generation where technology is everywhere, it’s really hard to monitor and control your kid’s (if you have any) smartphone and tablets.


Family Link by Google will help give parents more control over their kids’ smartphone and tablet usage, it gives parents an extra power to remotely lock down the device when it’s time to do something productive.

Google Family Link App

Family Link targets kids who have their own Android device. So, that Family Link app is installed on the parent’s device, through which they can create a new account for their kid and the kid can sign in using the account credentials.

This is only open to parents with kids under 13 years of age and living in the US (yes, it is area specific and moreover, it is an invite-only). Addition to that the kid’s device must be running on Android 7.0 Nougat and the parents device only requires Android 4.4 KitKat and higher.

Family Link Features

After setting up the app accordingly;

  • Parents can block certain apps from being used by their kids or even prevent kids from downloading any specific apps.
  • Parents can also see a monthly or weekly reports of what apps their kids using the most.
  • Parents can set bedtime, which will lock the kids’ device after a certain time.
  • Parents can also set an overall number of hours a device can be used in a given day.

Family Link app is an extraordinary power to control your kids’ smartphone/tablet usage, besides from the fact that it is necessary to let your kids’ learn and explore innovation. This app is very new and Google is inviting families to test out their new service.
