Project ARA (A8A01): Developer Edition Comes Into Spotlight

Project ARA is one of the most anticipated projects of this decade. There have been a lot of excitement at the early stage of this project but eventually, Google lost its interest. Google has canceled this project back in September. This project was run by Google’s experimental ATAP group, it was led by former chief Regina Dugan, who left Google for Facebook earlier this year.

Three years ago, the ARA team developed a conceptual design of the smartphone as a series of LEGO-style bricks that connects together and can be swapped out in seconds. Logic was really simple, any parts of the phone can be changed endlessly to upgrade the specs instead of changing the whole phone.
