YouTube’s New Monetization Options Channel Memberships, Merchandise, And Premieres

The YouTube community has grown exponentially over the past few years. YouTube now has more than 1.9 billion active monthly users. Well, the major reason behind this is the increased accessibility of internet and smartphones.

The company keeps bringing up new and helpful changes to the platform that benefit both the viewers and creators. This time around YouTube announced more monetization options for creators. So these are the new ways that will benefit creators.

1. Channel Memberships

Channel Membership allows viewers to help the creators by joining the membership and viewers pay a monthly recurring fee. In return, viewers get unique badges, new emoji, Members-only posts in the Community tab, and access to unique custom perks offered by creators, such as exclusive live streams, extra videos, or shout-outs.

 

Presently, this service was only limited to some channels and was known as Sponsorships. Youtube will now extend this service to all eligible channels with more than 1,00,000 subscribers under the new name Channel Memberships. This will definitely act as a source of revenue for creators and encourage them to create more content.

2. Merchandise

Most popular YouTube creators sell their merch, which is beneficial for both viewers and creators. Well, YouTube is making selling Merchandise easier for creators. YouTube has teamed up with Teespring so that creators can choose from over 20 merchandise items to customize and sell via a shelf on their channel. This will be available to all eligible U.S.-based channels with over 10,000 subscribers. Furthermore, these new features will we soon available to most creators.

3. Premieres

YouTube grows as a community with engagement between fans and creators. Today YouTube introduced a new way of uploading content known as Premiere. With Premieres, creators will be able to debut pre-recorded videos as a live moment. When creators choose to release a Premiere, YouTube will automatically create a public landing page to build anticipation and hype up new content.

When all fans show up to watch the premiere, they’ll be able to chat with each other (and with the creator!) in real time via live chat. This will act as a creator’s entire community is in one theater together watching their latest upload. Furthermore, this will help creators use Super Chat on traditional YouTube uploads and take advantage of Channel Memberships perks that were previously only available on Live videos.
