Vivo Apex: Everything You Need To Know About The “Conceptual Phone”

Vivo showcased a smartphone with world’s first in-display fingerprint scanner later in CES 2018. The smartphone grabbed a lot of attention and the concept was also praised by many.

Vivo has again introduced a new concept smartphone called the Vivo Apex. The new smartphone has an evolved variant of the old first in-display fingerprint scanner smartphone.

Vivo Apex: Whats The Technology?

The new technology knows as “Half-Screen In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology” allows the user to use half of the display as a Fingerprint scanner. In simple words, half of the smartphone’s display functions as a Fingerprint scanner. This eliminates the need of pressing a particular surface of the screen to unlock the device.

Even though, Vivo has come up with a physical smartphone. The concept is still in testing and development phase, it is difficult to predict will it ever reach the production stage. The fingerprint scanning mechanism is still slow then the native fingerprint scanners.

Vivo Apex: Design And Display

Vivo also came up with a revolutionary new design. The entire smartphone body is made out of glass and metal. The device comes with an OLED Panel. The Vivo Apex has 98% of the screen-to-body ratio which is the highest in any smartphone. Vivo Apex’s half of the display works as a fingerprint sensor.

Vivo has also included a new System in Package (SIP) technology that helps integrate most of the system hardware and microchips in a small space. This design language helps reduce the overall dimensions of the smartphone. Making more room for the battery.

What’s More In Vivo Apex?

The smartphone hides an 8-Megapixel front-facing camera inside the smartphone’s body, which triggers the front camera when needed and it roughly takes 0.8 seconds for the camera to activate itself and start functioning.

Vivo has designed new internals so as to minimize the space and make the smartphone even sleeker. The new technology will allow smartphone manufacturers eliminate those bezels completely. Well, Vivo Apex also holds world’s highest screen-to-body ratio title.
