Orange Pi One Plus 1

The latest Orange Pi One Plus takes on Raspberry Pi’s latest, Raspberry Pi 3 Model B. Well, if you don’t really know, the Pi’s are credit-card sized electronic board, which you typically find inside a PC or laptop but much smaller in size.

The $20 Pi One Plus offers a smooth 4K video playback with HDMI 2.0a and Gigabit Ethernet, which is not available on the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B. On the flipside though, the Orange Pi One Plus only has a single USB 2.0 host port, compared to four on the Pi 3 Model B.

In addition to that, Pi 3 has a quad-core ARM Cortex A53 processor, while Pi One Plus runs on Allwinner H6 SoC. The Orange Pi has the same amount of memory (viz 1GB) as the Pi 3 but is slightly faster than the DDR2 memory on the Pi 3.

The Pi One Plus runs on Android and supports older 7.0 version as of now, moreover, the Linux-based Ubuntu and Debian operating systems are also being tested. Unlike its big brother Orange Pi, the Orange Pi One Plus doesn’t have support for USB 3.0 and PCI-E interfaces.

It is worth noting that that, if you’re getting started, then Raspberry Pi 3 is the best choice, as Orange doesn’t offer an extensive range of operating systems, breadth of software, projects, and community support (as of now).
