Google AIY Vision Kit Comes With On-Device Neural Network Acceleration

Google has launched an AIY Vision Kit. Well, this new Google AIY Vision Kit comes with on-device neural network acceleration for Raspberry Pi. For your knowledge, Google has launched an AIY Voice Kit back in May.

The AIY (Artificial Intelligence Yourself) Vision Kit includes new circuit boards and computer vision software can be paired with Raspberry Pi computer and camera. So, users will need a Raspberry Pi Zero, a Raspberry Pi Camera and an SD card and power supply to get the Vision Kit working.

Notably, the Kit includes cardboard outer shell, a VisionBonnet circuit board, an RGB arcade-style button, a piezo speaker, a macro/wide lens, a tripod mounting nut and other necessary connecting components. Well, the Vision Kit is the VisionBonnet that features the Intel Movidius MA2450, which is a low-power vision processing unit capable of running neural network model on-device.

In addition that, the software includes three models; recognize a thousand common objects, the second model can recognize faces and expressions, and the third is a person, cat and dog detector. Google has also included a tool to compile models for Vision Kit

Moreover, users can train their own models with Google’s TensorFlow machine learning software. In extension to this, Google is also providing Python API gives out the ability to change the RGB, adjust the piezo element sounds and access the four GPIO pins.

The AIY Vision Kit is priced at US$44.99 (roughly Rs 2,900 / EUR 38 ) and will ship from December 31st through Micro Center. To know more, head over to Google blog.
