Airtel VoLTE services launched in India, starting from Mumbai. With this, Bharti Airtel became the second operator after Reliance Jio to start 4G VoLTE service in the country. This feature lets Airtel users enjoy HD quality voice calls along with faster call connect time.

The voice calls on VoLTE network are made using data but the company said there will be no additional data charges for VoLTE and calls will be billed as per existing plan or pack benefits.
In addition to that, Airtel promises seamless connectivity in case of non-availability of 4G, the voice calls will fall back to the 3G/2G network. It’s worth noting that this feature will also allow users to continue with their data sessions at 4G speeds while the call is in progress.

With the VoLTE compatible device ecosystem beginning to mature, we believe it’s the right time to enable VoLTE calling as part of our service portfolio. Over the next few months, we will rapidly accelerate the deployment of VoLTE to cover all key geographies to bring HD quality calling to our customers.
Airtel has listed out few devices on their website (airtel.in/volte), which will work on Airtel VoLTE and other handset manufacturers need to upgrade the smartphone’s software to support Airtel VoLTE. This VoLTE service will pan India by next few months without any time frame.
