Xiaomi Mi5S and Mi5S Plus, after much of a teaser and hype revealed their next flagship phone of 2016 in China. As the name hints Mi5S is a much upgraded version of Mi5. The upgrade departments includes design, hardware and software.
Xiaomi has just crossed 2.3 Million Unit sale on their budget friendly and performance killer phone, Redmi Note 3. Yes, Xiaomi today came up with two variants, Mi5S and Mi5S Plus. This is pretty usual for the smartphone market/manufacturers to come up with a plus variants.
Highlights;
- Xiaomi came out with Qualcomm’s Sense ID ultrasonic fingerprint sensing technology (more below).
- No 16GB or 32GB Storage variant.

A lot of rumors pointed out Mi5S coming out with Qualcomm’s Sense ID ultrasonic fingerprint sensing technology, well they did come out with it. This fingerprint sensor is expect to the faster than the fastest with precision. The technology uses ultrasonic waves to map the pores and ridges on a user’s finger, and the best part is, it also works when the finger is wet, dirty or oily. Fingerprint sensor of Mi5S is placed just below the front glass panel.
And for Xiaomi Mi5S Plus, it’s the same old school fingerprint sensor placement. Though there were a lot of rumors and leaks suggesting that Xiaomi is copying Apple’s very own round home button in Mi5S, Xiaomi didn’t (but still they’re known as Apple of China. Think why?).
Mi 5s Plus comes with dual-camera setup. This setup includes a pair of 13-megapixel cameras with Sony sensors, one RGB sensor to capture color information, while the other is a black and white sensor (monochrome) for the inner dept of feel and probably for the bokeh effect.
