Google has been running three-legged messaging service: Allo for consumer chat, Hangouts for corporate chat and SMS for texting. Well, nothing worked well, especially in front of apps like WhatsApp, iMessage, Facebook Messenger.

Well, Google is planning interesting with Android Messages. Android Police dug into the code of the latest version of the app and found out two very intriguing features. The first feature is pretty straightforward; you may be able to easily send and receive text messages from your web soon.

Well, it works pretty much like Allo and WhatsApp, you will be able to go to a webpage, scan a QR code and can get connected. Furthermore, the code found by Android Police indicate that multiple browsers will be supported


Where does RCS come in? Well, RCS takes SMS to next level with added features, which include higher resolution images, read receipts and typing indicators, but adoption of this feature directly depends on carriers, which is why there is not much of a growth in it.

Android Police has also found a code for a pop-up that reads “New! Text over WiFi and data”, which is pretty close to layman’s description of RCS. Moreover, it also showed: “Chat features are powered by Google.
