Huawei has unveiled a two-in-one speaker and 4G router with Alexa built-in, dubbed as Huawei AI Cube in IFA 2018. This new device lets users a more natural and convenient way to control smart devices with a high-end 360-degree wireless speaker, Alexa integration, and some not-yet-articulated AI capabilities.

Huawei AI Cube: A Literal Cube!
Shaped like an elongated Google Home (with flat a top), the AI Cube some or the other way making sure the Huawei’s presence in the smart speaker business. As of now, we have Apple’s HomePod, the Google Home family of devices, Amazon’s Echo speakers, Lenovo’s Smart Display, and Samsung’s Bixby speaker. So, why not Huawei?
Well, the Huawei’s AI Cube comes with a 4G SIM card slot which gives out LTE Category 6 speeds (300Mbps downlink). Not just that, it is compatible with 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard (2.4GHz and 5GHz), and transmitting data over LAN at up to 1,200Mbps. It also has four microphones with far-field voice recognition and weighs in at 900g (2lb).

The AI Cube packed in small matte white body with a seamless 3D mesh base allowing it to blend in with any home decor easily. Well, it features Alexa built-in, enabling users to effortlessly play music, control smart home devices, and access more than 50,000 skills – hands-free.
Huawei clearly wants to leverage its networking equipment by also endowing its AI Cube with a slot for an LTE SIM card, making it a 4G hotspot, and an Ethernet port, allowing you to use it as a home Wi-Fi router as well as an Alexa-enabled speaker. The pricing and availability are still unknown.
