How To Link Aadhaar Card With Pan Card: Step-By-Step Procedure

Aadhaar card was introduced back in January 2009. It is a 12 digit unique identity number issued to all Indian residents based on their biometric and demographic data. The data is collected by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).


Aadhaar is the world’s largest biometric ID system, with over 1.133 billion enrolled members as of 31 March 2017. The government has finally decided to link Aadhaar card with PAN (Personal Account Number) card for the filing of Income Tax returns.

How To Link Aadhaar Card With PAN Card? Don’t Account?

So, to link your Aadhaar Card with PAN card;

  • you need to go Income Tax’s website (Click Here) and login in.
  • What if you don’t have an account? then go click register now and create one with necessary details. After creating, you’ll get email and OTP (on your number) to login into your account.
  • Go to your email and click on the activation link provided and then enter the OTP (that came to your phone) to activate the account.
  • After logging in, it will directly redirect you to the Aadhaar and PAN card linking page, provide the necessary credentials and you’re done.

What If You Already Have An Account?

If you have an account it is really easy to link both the cards;

  • Login (Click Here) to the e-Filing portal of the Income Tax Department by entering the log-in ID, password, and date of birth.
  • A pop-up window will appear and will prompt you to link your PAN card with Aadhaar card.
  • If not, you can go to Profile setting and opt the “Link Adhaar” button.
  • Give all the details such as name, date of birth and gender.
  • If details matched, enter your Aadhaar card number and click on ‘Link Now’, you’re done.
