There are a lot of factors that we gadget users consider while buying a charger. Some of them are the charging speed, portability, and ease of use. Unfortunately, not all chargers are designed by keeping these factors in mind. Also, if you own more than one device, carrying multiple chargers along with the cables could be a hassle.
The AMX XP35 is a portable 3-port USB charger that solely focuses on solving these issues. Thanks to AMX India for sending an XP 35 and a Type-C USB 3.1 Gen 1 cable. Also, we’ll be giving away these units to one of our readers so, read the article to find out how to enter the giveaway. So, let’s begin with the AMX XP 35 review.
AMX XP 35 Review: Best From The Rest?
- AMX XP 35
- Quick Start guide
Right out of the box, the XP 35 feels solid in hand. The charger is made out of high-quality plastic, weighs 99Gms and you can expect it to last longer, even in the harshest conditions. The charger is compact and easy to carry. The charger tends to attract a lot of fingerprints due to the glossy finish.
AMX XP 35 Performance
The XP 35 is rated at 17 Watts and can deliver 2.4 Amps of current per port or 3.4 Amps if only one port is being used. The charger is BIS certified and comes equipped with “Flash Charge” technology.
We tested it out by putting all the three ports to work, and also, by using a single port, here are some stats.
The devices that we used in this test were Mi Max 2, LG G7+ ThinQ, and OnePlus 5T with 5300mAh, 3000mAh, and 3300mAh batteries, respectively.
The charger did deliver 2.4 Amps of current on each port when we checked the average charging speeds. When we calculate watts by adding the averages, multiplying them to the voltage, and dividing the resultant by 1000, we get 16.736Wh, which is approximately 17W.
We were able to charge an OnePlus 6 from 5-100% in around 2 hours at an average charging speed of 1500mA/h, which is okay. The charger did heat up a bit but, it didn’t get concerningly hot.
The XP 35 requires a modern socket (the one that boasts a plastic material inside to hold the charger in place) as when we tried using it with an older type of outlet with three USB wires plugged in. The charger wasn’t able to withstand the weight and was tilting at an angle and would eventually fall.
Should You Be Buying The AMX XP 35?
We see no reason why you shouldn’t buy it. There are no other chargers in the market that offer three USB ports at this price point (Great job, AMX!). If you’re someone who travels a lot or uses more than one gadget, for Rs. 499, the AMX XP 35 will not disappoint you.
AMX USB 3.1 Gen 1 USB Type-C Cable Review (Sold Separately)
You might have used many Type-C cables but, one cable that genuinely stands out is this one. The cable is braided, and we haven’t seen better-braided cables than this one. The cable is very well built, and you can expect it to last for a very long time. The included velcro strap makes your life so much easier, and we think every manufacturer needs to add one to their cables.
The cable is fast-charge compatible and is rated for maximum data transfer speeds of 5GB/s, which is impressive. While we tested it out by plugging it in a USB 3.1 Gen 1 port on the Lenovo Ideapad 330S, we were ]able to transfer a file of 1.4GB in under 40 seconds at an average speed of 36Mb/s which is impressive. Mind you both the charger and the cable are sold separately and not bundled.
Overall, we quite liked the cable, and for an asking price of Rs.369, this is one of the best, underrated USB Type-C cables out there. AMX also makes a USB Type-A version of it, which you can buy on AMX’s Official Website.
