As the VoWiFi bubble popped in India, several OEM’s started rolling out WiFi calling feature for their smartphones. Well, after testing it for the past two months, HMD Global has enabled VoWiFi on Nokia smartphones for Jio and Airtel users.
Network Operators Supporting Nokia Smartphones
The VoWiFi support partially depends on the network operators. Basically, it goes hand-in-hand. Well, Jio will support Nokia 9 PureView, Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 8.1, Nokia 7.2, Nokia 7.1, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.2, Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1 for VoWiFi.
On the other side, Airtel will support Nokia 9 PureView, Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 8.1, Nokia 7.1, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1 for VoWiFi. Many other network operators will aboard the VoWiFi journey soon.
How To Enable VoWiFi On Nokia Smartphones
Enabling the VoWiFi on your Nokia smartphones is simple;
- Open phone settings
- Search for Wi-Fi calling
- Enable Wi-Fi calling option
- Keep both VoLTE, and Wi-Fi Calling switched on.
- Connect to a Wi-Fi network to start making Wi-Fi calls anywhere in India
Mind you, calling using VoWiFi is no different. You have to dial the number and based on the availability and quality, your phone call will get toggled automatically between Wi-Fi and cellular network for the best quality calls.
