ASUS has launched its latest laptops under ZenBook series – ASUS ZenBook 14 UX434 and 15 UX534. There are plenty of things about this machine to love, be it, its design or beautiful display or its powerpack internals or it’s much highlighted ScreenPad 2.0. Well, here is our breakdown of ASUS ZenBook 14 UX434.

Premium Light-Weight Design
The ZenBook UX434 comes with the spun-metal finish on the lid and the prestigious Royal Blue finishes, making it look and feel premium. ASUS has kept ZenBook series (same goes with this one) chiseled with the most area covering with the display in the least physical space available, apparently making the laptop smaller than an A4 size paper marking a weight of just 1.26kg.
The frameless four-sided NanoEdge design makes the visuals more immersive and less distractive, and the best part is that it accommodates an advanced infrared (IR) camera that enables fast, reliable hands-free login with Windows Hello. Much like the recent ZenBooks, this one too comes with ErgoLift hinge, that provides you with comfortable typing, improves cooling and audio performance.
Display
The ASUS ZenBook 14 UX434 packs in a 14-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) NanoEdge display with 72% of the NTSC color gamut. The display of UX434 is vivid and vibrant, and with a 178° wide-view technology and with 92-percent screen-to-body ratio, the UX434 enhances the overall experience. There’s is also an optional touchscreen variant, just in case if you are into it.

Hardware And I/O’s
The ZenBook 14 UX434 is powered by Intel Core i7-8565U processor / Intel Core i5-8265U processor, along with NVIDIA GeForce MX250, 2GB GDDR5 VRAM, Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620, paired with 8GB / 16GB 2133MHz LPDDR3, coupled with 512GB PCIe 3.0 x2 SSD / 1TB PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD.
The ASUS ZenBook 14 UX434 runs on Windows 10 Home and all these are backed by a 50Wh 3-cell lithium-polymer battery, which according to ASUS will last up to 14 hours battery life.
ScreenPad 2.0
This mousepad-cum-secondary display is not new, we have earlier reviewed ASUS ZenBook Pro 15 UX580G, which was probably the first iteration of ScreenPad on ASUS laptops. Fascinated with what a ScreenPad can do, we weren’t sure about how useful it was, however, things seem to have changed with the ScreenPad 2.0.
Needless to say, the secondary touchscreen ScreenPad 2.0 improves productivity drastically (with time). With ScreenPad 2.0, ASUS has added handy utilities like;
- Quick Key, enables one-tap automation of complex keyboard sequences
- Handwriting, for natural input
- Number Key, for rapid and quick data entry
- Smarter Control, with built-in ScreenPad functions, and much more
The smartphone-like interface is more intuitive for improved ease of use. Moreover, according to the company, ScreenPad 2.0 has improved energy efficiency, so users need not to worry about running out of power when utilizing its full potential. Not just that, ASUS has also allowed third-party developers to use ASUS API to optimize their software and user experiences for ScreenPad.

Ports And Connectivity Options
Coming to I/O, the ASUS ZenBook 14 UX434 comes with a decent amount of ports irrespective of the fact that the laptop is the compact in size. So, there is USB-A Gen 2 port, a USB 2.0 port, a USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 port, full-size HDMI port, 3.5mm audio jack and a microSD card slot. However, it would have been great if ASUS has added an SD card slot.
Speaking on the connectivity, the ZenBook 14 UX434 support for Gigabit-class dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) with speeds of up to 1.734Gbps along with Bluetooth 5.0, which allows a quick flow of data with great reliability.
