Here’s How To Stop People From Adding You To WhatsApp Groups

A few days ago, WhatsApp announced a silent yet much need a feature which gives you more control over the messaging app. This newly added feature lets you stop others from adding you to WhatsApp group conversations without your permission.

Addition of this feature not only adds another layer of protection of getting added into some random groups just because someone has your number but also gives more control on your security and privacy on the app.

How To Stop People From Adding You To WhatsApp Groups

So, open WhatsApp on your phone and go the Settings > Accounts > Privacy.

WhatsApp Groups

Scroll down, tap on Groups, and select the option that best suits you;

  • Everyone (Anyone can add you to a group without an invitation)
  • My contacts (only your contacts can add you to a group without an invitation)
  • Nobody (this stops anyone from adding you to a group without an invitation)

That’s it you’re done. Done from people adding you to some puny groups you don’t want to be in. WhatsApp has added a feature in which the admins who can’t add you to a group will have the option of inviting you privately, which again gives you an option to think about accepting or discarding the group request.

That said, you can still join a group with a Group link – that will be created once the group is made. The link can be used to join a group regardless of the privacy option. What do you think about this feature? let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
