It’s no news, MediaTek is working on its latest and greatest upper-midrange chipset, and it will be called Helio P80. According to some reports, it will enhance the AI performance. Well in a new report claims that OPPO R19 will be the first smartphone to feature the Helio P80 chipset.

OPPO R19: Will Be Powered By Helio P80 SoC
The Helio P80 was second to only the top of the line Snapdragon 8150, which is speculated to power every 2019 flagship excluding Huawei’ and some Samsung flagships. The OPPO R19 will be a bright snap to feature Helio P80, especially when its predecessor (OPPO R17) used Snapdragon 670 SoC.
OPPO isn’t new to using MediaTek chipsets, the R15 was powered by the Helio P60. The rumours suggest that the Chinese company decided against using a MediaTek part because of an unsatisfactory performance from the chipset makers.

The Helio P80 is built on TSMC’s 12nm process, will have an octa-core CPU using ARM’s cores with upgraded GPU. The P80 will be MediaTek’s premier product for the first half of 2019, so it should make an appearance in other devices as well, following the OPPO R19.
