Xiaomi has a pretty good reputation when it comes to providing the software updates to the devices, and never leaves behind any smartphone launched, until now. Last year, the company dropped software support for some devices, now as per a post on MIUI China Forum Xiaomi has decided to suspend MIUI China ROM updates for some of its smartphones.
Xiaomi Dropped Software Support
According to the MIUI China Forum, Xiaomi has removed software support from few smartphones including the 2016 flagship Mi 5 (which happens to be my first Xiaomi smartphone I ever purchased and it is still alive). And mind you, these devices listed below will not receive MIUI 11 update.
Affected devices by the decision are:
- Redmi Note 3 Pro (Redmi Note 3 in India)
- Mi 5
- Mi 4
- Mi 4C
- Mi 4S
According to the post, MIUI 10.2 China Stable will be the last Stable ROM release for Mi 5 and Redmi Note 3 Pro, MIUI 10.1 China Stable will be the last Stable ROM release Mi 4, Mi 4S and Mi 4C which is expected to be released in January.
Xiaomi has suspended MIUI China Beta ROM updates for these devices with immediate effect from 22nd November saying that MIUI China Beta 8.11.22 will be the update for Mi 5 and Redmi Note 3 Pro, while MIUI 8.9.14 was the last MIUI China Beta update for Mi 4, Mi 4S and Mi 4C.
However, the company has not made any such announcement regarding the MIUI Global ROM for the above-mentioned devices. We will update as and when something goes around with this. Stay tuned.
