Google today at “Google for India” event announced the light version of its search app – Go app that can read articles and web pages for you. Not only that, the Go app can also read content in more than two dozen languages, which help people who are interested in listening to long-form articles or any other written content.

Google Light Search Go App
This nifty addition will enhance the user experience, especially for those who have a busy schedule and has trouble finding time to read. You can also control the listening experience with play, pause, and 2x speed control.
The reader for the Go app uses WaveNet speech synthesis to imitate an expressive human voice and is available in 26 languages. The light version of the Google search app is currently available in 28 countries including Brazil, Indonesia, India, and many African countries like Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, and Ghana.

Google VP Yossi Matias told to VentureBeat that this same text-to-speech system could be used to read content in other popular Google apps or services in the near future.
Various forms of AI are used both to carry out text-to-speech technology are considered for future versions of the Go app. Furthermore, Google engineers are working on a dictionary experience in search, which could be used to teach people new languages.
