Huawei recently introduced its new mid-range processor Huawei Kirin 710. This processor powers Huawei’s new mid-range smartphone the Huawei Nova 3i. Well, most mid-range smartphones in the similar price range are powered by the popular Snapdragon 636. So here’s a detailed comparison between both these processors i.e. Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 vs Huawei Kirin 710.

Snapdragon 636 Vs Huawei Kirin 710: Processing Power
The Snapdragon 636 has eight Kryo 260 cores that have a clock frequency of up to 2.2Ghz. On the other hand, you get four ARM Cortex-A73 bigger cores clocked at 2.2GHz and the other four smaller ARM Cortex-A53 cores are clocked at 1.7GHz. While, the Snapdragon 636 comes with Adreno 509 GPU, and the Huawei Kirin 710 comes with ARM Mali-G51 MP4 GPU.
The Huawei Kirin 710 is based on a 12 nm production process. Well, this is comparatively better than the 14 nm production process of the Snapdragon 636. Both these processors can easily handle regular day to day activities and multitasking.

It is worth noting that Huawei Kirin 710 will offer a better gaming and graphics performance due to the inclusion of GPU Turbo technology. That said, you won’t notice much difference until and unless both these processors are compared side-by-side.
Snapdragon 636 Vs Huawei Kirin 710: Display And Connectivity
The Snapdragon 636 can easily power a Full HD WQXGA with a resolution of 2560 x 1200 pixels. As far as connectivity is concerned Snapdragon 636 supports Wi-Fi 2×2 802.11ac with MU-MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and LTEX1.
On the other hand, the Huawei Kirin 710 supports a Full HD+ with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. For connectivity, the Huawei Kirin 710 offers 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz / 5GHz) 2×2 MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS + GLONASS.

Snapdragon 636 Vs Huawei Kirin 710: Camera
The Snapdragon 636 boasts a 14-bit Qualcomm Spectra 160 ISP that supports sensors of up to 24MP or dual 16MP sensors. On the other hand, Huawei Kirin 710 presently supports a 16P and 2MP dual camera configuration.
The upgraded DSP and ISP offer significant improvement in the camera department, especially in low-light conditions. Furthermore, the SoC is also capable of scene recognition using AI.
As a conclusion, the Snapdragon 636 and Huawei Kirin 710 have nearly the same performance but the Snapdragon 636 lacks behind in terms of gaming performance. Do note that unlike the naming suggests (Kirin 710) is nowhere close to Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 in overall performance, Snapdragon 710 beats Kirin 710 by huge margins based on Geekbench tests.
