Recently WhatsApp has been improvising the application experience by offering new features and updates. Some updates are focused towards eliminating fake news. Well, WhatsApp Beta 2.18.216 has now introduced a ‘Mute Feature’ for Android smartphone users. So here’s everything you need to know about this new feature.

WhatsApp Beta 2.18.216: Mute Feature!
WhatsApp beta 2.18.216, submitted on the Google Play Beta program, brings a new mute shortcut feature on Android. WABetaInfo stated that WhatsApp was earlier developing a “mute chat” feature, and the feature is now available for all users using WhatsApp beta version 2.18.216.
That said, this new Mute Feature is available as a notification control action. Well, if a user receives more than 51 messages and that too from the same chat, then they will find a new button named Mute in the WhatsApp notification in the Android notifications drawer. It is worth noting that, this Mute button won’t be available to users until and unless they have a minimum of 51 messages.

WhatsApp Beta 2.18.216: Further Improvements
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is also testing a ‘mark as read’ option in the notification panel for Android smartphone users. WABetaInfo states that “WhatsApp is adding new improvements in the next updates for the feature, and it’s not available yet for development reasons”.

Overall WhatsApp is improving and adding new features that users were earlier missing. Some of the recent updates are also targeted towards eliminating misinformation that was continuously forwarded on WhatsApp.
