Reliance Jio, MediaTek Partners For Android Oreo Go Edition Smartphone

It is not been a while when Reliance reported going full-fledged on Android smartphone. Well, MediaTek will partner with Reliance Jio to launch a new Android Oreo Go Edition smartphone in India this year.

Google announced the Android Go project back in May with a mission of running Android on phones with less than 1GB RAM and 8GB of storage, apparently cutting down the cost of the smartphone. Well, the partnered collaboration will bring in Go Edition smartphone under the LYF brand.

The smartphone is said to powered by the MediaTek‘s MT6739 processor, coupled with 512MB to 1GB RAM. The Android Go Edition will give out Pure Android experience even with its slimmed-down version of core apps like Google Go, Google Maps, Google Assistant Go and so on.

Other partners like Micromax and HMD Global has already confirment to launch Android Oreo Go edition smartphone. Reliance Jio’s LYF branded smartphone is expected to be subsidized, much like JioPhone. Stay tuned.
