Xiaomi has introduced at new Redmi series: Xiaomi Redmi Y1, the company’s latest budget smartphone at an event in India. This is rebranded version of Redmi 5A that was introduced in China in August.

Starting from the design front, it comes with a brush metal finish on the back with aluminum alloy frame, the fingerprint sensor on the back. 13-megapixel rear camera, and 16-megapixel selfie camera. In addition to that, the company also announced Bollywood actor Katrina Kaif as the brand ambassador of the series.

The Y1 packs in a 5.5-inch HD screen, which is powered by Snapdragon 435 processor, coupled with 3GB / 4GB RAM, paired with 32GB / 64GB expandable storage,  runs on Android Nougat and all these are backed by a 3080mAh battery.

The Xiaomi Redmi Y1 comes in Gold and Dark Gray colors and is priced at Rs 8,999 (roughly US$140 / EUR 120) for the 3GB + 32GB storage variant and the 4GB + 64GB storage version is priced at Rs 10,999 (roughly US$170 / EUR 145) and will be exclusively on Amazon.in and Mi.com starting November 8th.
