While the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 remains the go-to and hard to get SoC now, reports of the next generation SoC is already started popping up. Well, according to the report, it will be called Snapdragon 845 and will be built on a 7nm process.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
Using 7nm process, the Snapdragon 845 should be found inside next year’s high-end smartphones (flagship) and we expect that the Samsung Galaxy S9 will be the first to come with this chipset next year. Other chipsets will also be produced using 7nm process next year and will come from Huawei’s Kirin, MediaTek, Nvidia and even from Xiaomi (may be).
Currently, the Snapdragon 835 SoC is built using the 10nm process. Dropping from 10nm to 7nm will result in significantly faster chips, with performance improvement by 25% to 35% and will also reduce the chipset size, which could apparently help in reduction in smartphone size, when compared to the current 10nm process found in the likes of the Snapdragon 835.
