Nvidia Shield TV (2015) Updated To Android 7.0 Nougat; What’s New?

The Nvidia Shield TV has been upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat. If you haven’t received the update, then try to manually check for it, as Nvidia has officially published the changelog of the device.


Well, much like any other updates, this update brings a lot of new features and improvements such as Amazon Video, Nvidia Games Apps, Nest and many other system/user specific enhancements.

The Android 7.0 nougat update adds recent app page, so all you can do is double-press the Home button to quickly access recent apps. Along with a new settings menu, much-anticipated ‘picture in picture’ support has been added too. Now, with Amazon Video, users can stream popular shows and movies in 4K HDR.

Games have been the main concerns for the Nvidia, So with the update replacing Sheild Hub App comes Nvidia Games Apps, which will allow users to find and access exclusive Android games and Nvidia GameStream games. Addition to this, all the installed games will be displayed in the games row on the Sheild’s home screen.


Additional Changes…

Well, with this update users will be able to play on-demand PC games with a performance up to GeForce 1080 gaming graphics cloud. With this comes, the Nvidia GameStream, which is upgraded to offer 4K HDR and lower latency streaming.

Nest support also adds up this new Nougat update. So, if you have any Nest Cameras, you can have a watch from your Sheild. Other than all the app upgrades, some improvements are the addition of Play/pause button functionality, and along with 4.1, 6.1, 8.1 speaker configurations for plex, there is a added ability to write in attached USB or SD cards.

All in all, this is one hell of updates, Like I already said if you haven’t updated your Nvidia Sheild yet? It’s the time.
