Design
Both the smartphones sports metal unibody design. The HTC Bolt measures 153.6 x 77.3 x 8.1 mm and weighs 174 grams whereas the Huawei Mate 9 measures 156.9 x 78.9 x 7.9 mm and weighs 190 grams.
The Bolt is IP57 certified dust and water resistant i.e it can stay 1m underwater for 30 minutes.
Display
The HTC Bolt features a 5.5-inch QHD(1440 x 2560 pixels) Super LCD3 display with a pixel density of 534ppi. In case if you were wondering what a Super LCD is, it differs from a regular LCD in that it does not have an air gap between the outer glass and the display element.
However, Huawei Mate 9 offers a 5.9-inch FHD(1080 x 1920 pixels) IPS LCD Panel with a pixel density of 373ppi.
Chipset, RAM, and Storage
The HTC Bolt is powered by last year’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC clocked at 2GHz which is an Octa-core Processor(4 x 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 + 4 x 2 GHz Cortex-A57) coupled with Adreno 430 GPU. Whereas the Huawei Mate 9 comes with the new Hisilicon Kirin 960 SoC clocked at 2.4 GHz which is also an Octa-core processor (4 x 2.4 GHz Cortex-A73 + 4 x 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53) coupled with the latest Mali-G71 MP8 GPU.
The HTC Bolt comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB Internal Storage which is expandable up to 256 GB via microSD(dedicated slot). The Mate 9 offers 4 GB RAM and 64GB of Internal Storage which is also expandable via microSD up to 256 GB via Hybrid Sim slot.
Camera and Software
The HTC Bolt is equipped with 16 MP Camera with f/2.0, OIS(optical image stabilization), PDAF(phase detection autofocus) and dual-LED flash. The Huawei comes equipped with dual 20 MP + 12 MP shooters with f/2.2, OIS, 2x zoom, Leica optics, phase detection & laser autofocus, and dual-LED flash. Both smartphones support 4K Video Recording.
Both share 8-Megapixel front-facing camera which supports FHD(1080p) video recording. Also in the software department, they run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS and has Fingerprint scanners on their back side. Both devices support 4G VoLTE as well.
Battery and Price
The Bolt is fuelled by a Li-Ion 3200 mAh battery whereas the Mate 9 is fuelled by a Li-Po 4000 mAh battery. Both supports fast charging.
The Bolt is priced at $600 whereas the Mate 9 is at $760.
